On Sunday, September 16, 2007 our church celebrated Parish Day, the Feast of St. Stanislaus Kostka with bilingual Mass at 10:15 a.m.
After Mass all the faithful joined in an outside Eucharistic Procession, where again all the church organizations carried their banners around the neighborhood. Our youth was proud to expose their patron Saint Stanislaus Kostka carrying him very proudly. For the first time in the procession was the new Icon of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa.
The official ending of the ceremony was the benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
The beautiful weather permitted us to continue the social part of celebration in the parish garden. In the garden parishioners could get good polish sausage straight from the grill, paczki and coffee. Everyone enjoyed each others company, good food and yes the music performed by new formed band from the Lombard Parish.

On Saturday, September 8, 2007 the Polish Language School welcomed 49 children for the school year of 2007/2008. Students will receive lessons in history, traditions, as well as in reading and writing in Polish. This year school offers preschool, kindergarten, first, second and third grade. We also have the oldest group which is combined with children from grades 5 through 8. With great enthusiasm children signed up for singing and dancing groups where they will learn traditional folk dances and songs.
The school works very closely with the church and once a month, on the 3rd Sunday of each month; the children help to prepare the liturgy and songs for that Mass.
Good luck in the new school year to all the students, teachers and parents.

August 19, 2007 was the day when St. Stanislaus Church celebrated its 26th Annual Polish Fest. Work for this event took many months; from getting all the necessary permits to making pierogi.
On that day we started our celebration with the bilingual Mass at 10:15 a.m., during which we welcomed the Black Madonna Icon for one of the side altars. That day all the faithful witnessed Br. Krzysztof Kazimierczyk renewed his Franciscan vows. This Holy Mass was offered in thanksgiving for all the blessings received. Despite the weather many people showed up for the Festival activities. Bishop Thomas G. Doran honored us for the festival dinner. In the mid day, weather permitted us to spend the rest of the day outside, where for our enjoyment we could watch many performers: from Martial Arts, Hula dancers to National Polish Falk Dancers. Parishioners and many guests enjoyed music, dancing, good food and drinking polish beer. This year the new items added to our menu were a huge success. The festival ended with the raffle drawing. At that time the College Scholarship and Boylan tuition assistance were awarded.
As always Polish Fest gathered thousands of people from Rockford and surrounding areas.

On June 19, we started the ?Church Renovation Project?. This project will have several steps leading us to the Parish Centennial Celebration in 2012. The first step is the replacement of carpeting and PVC tile in our church. The floor will be replaced with marble and granite in the presbytery part and ceramic tile will be used in the main body of church. Carpet Mill USA is the contractor that was hired to complete this project. When the floor is finished; a new lighting system will be added to presbytery as well as fresh paint on the church walls. The estimated deadline for finishing this project is July 20th.
The next steps will be rebuilding the side altars, replacing the outside windows and repairing the church roof. During the time of floor replacement our services were held in Kolbe Hall.

Stanislaw Kawa (missionary from Uzbekistan)gave the homily in Polish. According to our old Polish tradition, after the Mass, we had a Eucharistic procession on the streets of the neighborhood (our church is the only one in Rockford that practices this). This is a very special day in our Franciscan community; the Women?s League, Holy Name Society, Society of Mercy, our parish organizations all took part in this procession, carrying their banners. The Youth group carried a statue of our parish patron saint and the younger children threw flower petals before Jesus.
