 Mother's Day Sunday, May 11th, we celebrated Mother?s Day. Fr. Peter gave a wonderful homily about mothers. Each mom received a very special blessing and a flower from Fr. Peter.
At the 9:00 am Mass, the church Youth Group presented a short poetic program to thank our mothers.
At the 11:00 am Mass, the children from Polish Language School prepared an artistic program for the moms.
After each Mass, all were invited to Kolbe Hall for coffee and paczki.

First Communion Sunday, May 4th, a group of 12 young children received the Sacrament of Holy Communion for the very first time. A special Mass was celebrated at 9:00 am; children actively took part in this celebration, which commenced with an entrance procession with their parents and a parental blessing. Then, children read the readings, petitions, sang, and brought the offertory gifts. To make this day even more memorable, after the closing blessing, Fr. Peter presented every child with the Holy Bible.

Polish Constitution Day Children, parents, and staff of Polish Language School took part in the Polish Constitution Parade in Chicago. A bus filled with boys and girls and their parents all dressed in red and white, as Nicholas Copernicus (the school?s patron) and his court, departed in the morning for Chicago. Although the weather did not cooperate, it did not stop the enthusiastic group from celebrating their Polish heritage. This day will be remembered by them for the very long time.

April 27-28, 2008
Deacon Jim Our very own Deacon Jim celebrated his 10th anniversary of serving St. Stanislaus Parish as a Deacon. To honor him, the whole weekend of April 27/28 was dedicated to our Deacon. The Saturday 4:30 pm Mass was offered in thanksgiving for the 10 years. Fr. Peter asked Jim to preach homilies at every Mass. During each Mass, Deacon Jim was presented with bouquet of flowers and good wishes. After Masses everyone was invited to Kolbe Hall to spend a few minutes with Jim and have cup of coffee and a piece of cake.

 Dinner Dance On Saturday, April 19th, almost 100 people attended a celebration of spring put on by Polish Language School in the form of a Dinner/Dance. After the delicious dinner, which was prepared by Mrs. Teresa Szul, everyone danced the night away to the tunes of Chicago?s group, Effect.

Memory of John Paul II Another year has passed since our Pope John Paul II passed away. We, as a Polish community, commemorated Him with a very special mass and sang the Pope?s favorite songs. Then, of course, after the Mass everyone was invited to Kolbe Hall for the Pope?s favorite pastry- ?Kremowka? and coffee.

Divine Mercy Sunday On March 30th, we celebrated Divine Mercy Sunday with an extended Mass led by three priests and in which many people from around the Rockford Dioceses attended. Our Parish Family processed around the block with the Holy Eucharist to honor our Beloved Christ. The Novena then ended and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy was recited. After the ceremony, everyone was once again invited to Kolbe Hall for coffee and cake.

 Easter Sunday At both English and Polish Masses, children carried the offertory gifts. Fr. Peter gave wonderful homilies. At the Polish Mass children from the Polish Language School dressed in the traditional folk costumes sang songs. After masses Fr. Peter wished everyone a Happy Easter and gave each child a candle shaped and decorated as an Easter Egg.

Holy Saturday-Vigil Mass Vigil Mass was celebrated with a bilingual Mass, and started with the blessing of fire and water. Again, Youth Group took an active part in the ceremony carrying offertory gifts and singing.

Holy Saturday Easter Egg hunt and Blessing of Food In the morning our church hosted an annual Easter Egg hunt for the children of our Parish. Many youngsters showed up for this event and had a great time looking for the fun eggs filled with candies.
There is a tradition at our church that on Holy Saturday people bless the food which they will eat on Easter morning. Many people brought their food baskets to Kolbe Hall to be blessed.

Good Friday On Good Friday there were two liturgical services of the Cross: one in English at 1:00 pm
and then in Polish at 7:00 pm. That day we also started the Novena to the Divine Mercy
of God, which will be said daily until Divine Mercy Sunday. After the Blessed Sacrament
was carried to the Lord?s Tomb, Polish Choir led us in the prayer and adoration.

Holy Thursday, The Easter Tritium began with a bilingual Mass of the Lord?s Last Supper. At the beginning of the Mass, representatives of the Parish wished Father Peter and Deacon Jim all the best and thanked them for all they do for the Parish. During the Mass, youth group carried gifts to the altar while two girls read about the meaning of each one in both languages. In remembrance of the Last Supper, Fr. Peter washed the feet of 12 men from the congregation. After the ending procession, in which the Sacrament was put in the ciemnica, the youth group had their first hour of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament together. They read reflections and sang songs.
After that, Deacon Jim led the rest of the congregation in prayer before the Sacrament.

Mysterium Passion On Sunday, March 16th, the staff and parents of Polish Language School invited everyone to the school hall for their very first play as a new theater group. To celebrate the Easter season, the Passion of Our Lord was performed. Over 100 people showed up for this event, and even the toughest critics voiced their opinion that the play was a heart touching performance; many tears were shed during it.
The afternoon ended with a traditional gathering with coffee and pastries.

 Palm Sunday As our Parish tradition compels us, on Palm Sunday Fr. Peter blessed the Palms, which were hand made by the ladies of the Society of Mercy. Those blessed Palms were carried to the church in a procession by children dressed in the traditional folk costumes from Polish Language School. Children also presented offertory gifts and sang songs.

Retreat Day 4 On the fourth day of the retreat, Fr. Boguslaw offered the Mass for all the women in the parish and, as in prior days, all the ladies received a very special blessing from Father.

 Retreat Day 1 Fr. Boguslaw Dabrowski was the master for the annual Lenten Retreat. These retreats run for four days.
We began on Sunday, with a children?s Mass. Children sang songs and carried the offertory gifts. At the end of the Mass, Fr. Boguslaw gave a special blessing over each child.

 Sacrament of Confirmation During the Rockford Diocese Centennial Celebration, this year?s Sacrament of Confirmation was held in Boylan Catholic High School. Fourteen young adults from our Parish received this sacrament at the special celebration.
