Sacraments

ANOINTING OF THE SICK

The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is for those with a serious illness. It should be received at the beginning of the illness; please do not wait until near death. The sacrament cannot be given to those who have died. Contact the pastor at the Parish Office (815) 965-3913. There is also a Communal Anointing celebrated during the Easter Season at the Sunday Masses. To arrange a visitation for the sick see below.

BAPTISM

Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door, which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: “Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.”

Planning a Baptism
The family should be registered in the parish and the child should be under the age of seven. Make an appointment with the pastor to discuss the Sacrament and schedule the Baptism.

CONFIRMATION

The Sacrament of Confirmation is generally celebrated in the 8th grade at Saint Stanislaus. Participation in the Religious Education class is required. Contact: religioused@st-stanislaus.org (Parish Office: 815-965-3913)

FUNERAL

If someone dies in your family, you will need to contact your Funeral Director and the St. Stanislaus Office. Arrangements will be made with the pastor. The Funeral Director has materials explaining the procedures of a Catholic Funeral and the practices of the Saint Stanislaus Parish Family. The Pastor will help you prepare the religious services.
Those who wish to have the body cremated should be reminded that the Church asks that cremation happen after the visitation and the Funeral Services are completed.

MARRIAGE

Couples planning marriage must contact the Parish Office to speak to the pastor. An Engaged Encounter Weekend and the Natural Family Planning seminar for preparation is a requirement as part of the preparation process.
Couples must be 19 years of age and begin the process at least six months to a year prior to the date they wish.

MASS OFFERING

Masses are celebrated daily with a special intention of a donor. If you wish to have a mass celebrated for a special intention, come to the Parish Office for arrangements of dates and times. The suggested donation for each mass to be celebrated is $10.
